“…In addition, CO2 emissions before and after ground strap installation were 7.80% and 4.99 %vol, respectively. Astanei et al [21] reported much lower HC emission when higher quality spark plug was used. Significant decrease of HC and CO emissions in this work was then predicted due to better fuel combustion.…”

“…Several other indicators on the spark plug also affect the combustion process at SIE, such as the number of the Ground Electrode (ground electrode) and electrodes and spark plug roughness [7,[20][21][22][23]. This study will discuss the effect of multiple-ground electrode on the SIE combustion process.…”

“…The motorcycle is classified as a spark ignition engine (SIE), where the combustion process occurs due to an ignition generated by the spark plug. The spark ignition is commonly used and has higher deposit energy than laser ignition [7]. The spark plugs function to burn the fuel and air mixture in the internal combustion engine that enters the combustion chamber.…”

“…However, due to the low energy content per unit mass of the mixture in the mildly homogeneous lean burn state, the flame propagation speed becomes slower and the cyclic variation becomes more intense. Multipoint ignition may be a potential technology to improve this phenomenon. Long-term practice has shown that double-spark plug ignition can significantly shorten the combustion duration, reduce cyclic variation, and expand the combustion limit. Migita et al used twin-spark plugs located in a diagonal position and controlled the ignition timing in sequence to achieve rapid combustion. Forte et al found that at a part load condition, a sensible reduction of cycle-by-cycle variability of indicated mean effective pressure was achieved by twin-spark, and at a full load condition, the twin-spark showed an increase of power.…”
