A New Simple Chaotic Circuit Based on Memristor

Abstract: In this paper, a new memristor is proposed, and then an emulator built from off-the-shelf solid state components imitating the behavior of the proposed memristor is presented. Multisim simulation and breadboard experiment are done on the emulator, exhibiting a pinched hysteresis loop in the voltage–current plane when the emulator is driven by a periodic excitation voltage. In addition, a new simple chaotic circuit is designed by using the proposed memristor and other circuit elements. It is exciting that this … Show more

“…42 The unique memory characteristics and nanoscale structures of these three mem-elements have a wide application prospect in non-volatile memory, 4 artificial neural networks, [5][6][7][8][9][10] and chaotic circuits. [11][12][13][14][15] However, due to the cost and technical difficulties of nanoscale device manufacturing, commercially available mem-elements will be impossible in the near future. Therefore, in order to explore the follow-up application of these three mem-elements, the studies of their simulation models and emulator circuits are very necessary.…”

“…Nonlinear science is a new interdisciplinary subject to study the universality of nonlinear phenomena, which runs through almost every subject of meteorology [1,2], mathematics [3][4][5][6], uid mechanics [7,8], complex network [9][10][11][12], electronics [13][14][15], and social science [16,17]. Chaos is one of the most important achievements of nonlinear science.…”

“…Since the physical memristor has been fabricated by Hewlett-Packard Lab in 2008 [Strukov et al, 2008], it has attracted much attention of researchers. Due to its nonvolatility, nanosize, and low power consumption, memristor can be applied in various fields, such as nonvolatile memory [Strukov, 2016], neural networks [Soudry et al, 2015;Duan et al, 2015], nonlinear chaotic circuits [Zhou et al, 2016;Wu & Wang, 2016;Yuan et al, 2016;Wang et al, 2017;Corinto & Forti, 2017;Ma et al, 2017], and so on.…”
