DevOps is a new software engineering paradigm adopted by various software organizations to develop the quality software within time and budget. The implementation of DevOps practices is critical, and there are no guidelines to assess and improve the DevOps activities in software organizations. Hence, there is a need to develop a readiness model for DevOps (RMDevOps) with an aim to assist the practitioners for implementation of DevOps practices in software firms. To achieve the study objective, we conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) study to identify the critical challenges and associated best practices of DevOps. A total of 18 challenges and 73 best practices were identified from the 69 primary studies. The identified challenges and best practices were further evaluated by conducting a survey with industry practitioners. The RMDevOps was developed based on other well‐established models in software engineering domain, for example, software process improvement readiness model (SPIRM) and software outsourcing vendor readiness model (SOVRM). Finally, case studies were conducted with three different organizations with an aim to validate the developed model. The results show that the RMDevOps is effective to assess and improve the DevOps practices in software organizations.

Abstract: Quality insurance creates a leverage effect in the global market competition, in particular for software development processes. Thus, companies are brought to use several standards and benchmarks of good practices in management and control of information systems. However, implementing several standards within the same company is difficult and time consuming. In this paper, we propose a Model Driven Engineering approach of building a common repository. It is focused on the common metamodel building. The transformation rules are formalized and illustrated by CMMI model. A good software reuse process, contributes towards accelerating time to market of software products and reducing costs and efforts. Research raised that the adoption of software reuse is becoming a necessity for organizations to compete against others and stand out amongst them. Thereby many organizations try to invest in software reuse by identifying best reuse techniques, methods, and practices. This paper presents a complete survey method with findings backed up with statistics. The goal is to evaluate in practice the adoption of techniques, methods and practices proposed by academics, and highlight the motivations as well as the difficulties to implement a successful reuse program by different types of organizations in Morocco.A descriptive survey of 84 software participants with different backgrounds (software managers, analysts, engineers and software developers) has been conducted, in order to identify the current state of software reuse in practice inside the Moroccan software industry. A complete survey method is presented, including the process, data collection, and analysis phases, as well as a discussion on the study's validity…The survey consisted of 28 questions, grouped into 4 sections and backed up our findings with statistics. A discussion was also given based on the comparison of the survey results with related literature and presented the main of our finding.It has been shown through statistics that even if most of organizations are aware of the strengths and benefits of software reuse, they don't consider reuse as part of the company's culture, and most of them didn't implement efficient software reuse programs and not apply the most effective reuse strategies, methods and practices.
