“…In addition, the structure of the gonopodal aperture in Eucampesmella is similar to the condition found in members of Telonychopodini (Hoffman 1965, 2000, 2005, Pena-Barbosa et al 2013. Concerning the female characters, Macrocoxodesmus marcusi has a modified legpair associated with the vulva, a condition only known in Macrocoxodesmus and Plectrogonodesmus gounellei (Bouzan et al 2019a). Further studies are still required to confirm the tribal position of Eucampesmella.…”

“…Other variations within the Xystodesmidae are known, such as in the genus Cherokia Chamberlin, 1949, which lacks a receptacle entirely (Hoffman 1960) and the genus Pachydesmus Cook, 1895, in which females have modified cyphopodal apertures and receptacles (Hoffman 1958). Other families of Polydesmida are also known to have modified female genitalia, such as the Chelodesmidae, with the species Plectrogonodesmus gounellei (Brölemann, 1902) having an enlarged epigyne and recurved receptacles with tubular projections (Brölemann 1902;Bouzan et al 2019). In the Polydesmidae, Pseudopolydesmus Attems, 1898 has recently-identified cyphopod structures that may be useful for species identification (Zahnle et al 2020).…”

“…Members of the tribes Strongylomorphini: Brasilodesmus paulistus paulistus (Brӧlemann, 1902), Macrocoxodesmini: Macrocoxodesmus marcusi Schubart, 1947, and Arthrosolaenomeridini: Arthrosolaenomeris pantalanensis Schubart, 1943 were included as outgroups, as well as two species not assigned to any tribe (Leiodesmus sp. and Plectrogonodesmus gounellei (Brölemann, 1902)), hypothesized to be closely related to Atlantodesmus, according to Hoffman (2000) and Bouzan et al (2017Bouzan et al ( , 2019.…”
