A new postfunctional method to synthesize C60‐containing polysiloxanes

Abstract: ABSTRACT:Two new C 60 -containing polysiloxanes were synthesized by a new postfunctional method. First, the predesigned amimo end-functionalized polysiloxane was prepared, and then the reactive macromolecular intermediate reacted with C 60 molecules in chlorobenzene to yield the C 60 -containing polysiloxanes. Molecular structural characterization for the polymers was presented by 1 H-NMR, IR, and ultraviolet-visible spectra. The polymers exhibited good solubility in common organic solvents and were air stable. Show more

“…These synthetic conditions were very mild, and the procedure was relatively easy. Previously, this method was successfully applied to the synthesis of C 60 ‐containing polysiloxanes 13. As the results were satisfactory, we believed that this method could be used to prepare other C 60 ‐containing polymers, especially water‐soluble polymers.…”

“…Recently, we developed a new postfunctional method to synthesize C 60 ‐containing polymers. This method was successfully applied to the preparation of C 60 ‐containing polysiloxanes, and the resultant polysiloxanes were stable in air and exhibited good solubility in common organic solvents 13. In this study, the method was further extended to the synthesis of C 60 ‐containing PEO.…”

“…145 Two [60]fullerene end-capped polysiloxanes have been prepared by the reaction of the fullerene with the terminal amino groups of the polymer. 146 [60]Fullerene end-capped poly(ethyleneoxide)s form smaller aggregates than singly end-capped poly(ethyleneoxide)s. 147 A high molecular weight, soluble [60]fullerene end-capped polyrotaxane, comprising of a central polyazomethine chain encapsulated by cyclodextrin units along the chain has been prepared. 148…”

“…Amino end-functionalised polysiloxanes have been used to incorporate C 60 into polysiloxanes. 48 Carbon black (CB)-polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) composites were studied by automated scanning probe microscopy to determine the effect of CB concentration and curing rate on roughness and conductivity. 49 Hydroxyl-terminated PDMS vulcanized with Si(OEt) 4 was used as a hydrophobic matrix to improve the activity of the enzyme lipase which was immobilised within it.…”
