A New Plaintext-Related Image Encryption Scheme Based on Chaotic Sequence

Abstract: In order to improve the image encryption system's ability to resist plaintext, noise, and data loss attacks, in this paper, a new plaintext-related and chaos-based image encryption scheme is proposed, which includes two rounds of encryption operations. The block parity checking, performed in the first round of encryption, is used to associate the plaintext information with a secret key so that the encryption scheme can resist plaintext attacks. Moreover, repetitive coding, which is adopted in the second round … Show more

“…The monotony of the histogram of cipher demonstrates the strength of the encryption path to statistical analysis. The ocular effect of the histogram is not sufficient to verify the accident of a cipher image’s pixel values [ 26 ]. To quantitatively measure the monotony of the histogram, we use the chi-square test as a metric.…”

“…For an ideal image encryption system, the empirical chi-square value should be less than the theoretic amount. With the importance level of 0.05, the theoretic chi-square value is 293 [ 26 ]. The chi-square test conclusions and transition rates are listed in Table 1 and Table 2 .…”

“…For example, for a gray image with an amplitude gray value between [0, 255], each pixel can be expressed as an eight-bit number, and the bits at the same position of all pixels are combined to form different bit planes. Different bit planes contain different amounts of information [29], as shown in Table 1. The information contained in the A1 ~ A3 plane matrix accounts for about 2.64% of the total matrix information, which includes the detailed information of the image.…”

“…Nardo et al [15] used natural chaotic systems at different intervals to obtain accurate errors for image encryption. Ma et al [16] proposed a new method for forming a chaotic sequence, which is based on a permutation polynomial and a residual system, then applied it to image encryption, and achieved good encryption results. However, because hyper-chaotic systems have multiple positive Lyapunov exponents, more complex dynamics, and larger key spaces, many scholars have applied them to image encryption and achieved remarkable research results [17]- [20].…”
