“…Some studies have suggested, however, that metal cations tend to complex with hydroxyl and carboxyl groups within the hydrogel reducing its swelling capacity (Adjuik et al, 2022;Isik & Kis, 2004). New types of SAP (e.g., sodium acrylate, coacrylamide, potassium methacrylate and sodium polyacrylate), with improved salt resistance, have been tested generating good application results (Zhao et al, 2019;Zhu et al, 2019) showing also higher tolerance to salinity, including sodiumacrylate coacrylamide, potassium methacrylate and sodium polyacrylate (Ma et al, 2004;Mohana Raju et al, 2002). SAP improves soil structure, enhances soil permeability, and plays a salt filtering role in the soil with its strong water absorption ability to limit the excessive accumulation of toxic ions in plant organs (Jamil & Ahmed, 2008;Shi et al, 2010).…”

“…Seaweed fertilizers can balance plant endogenous hormones and enhance their growth. In addition, as an environmentally friendly natural fertilizer, it contributes to the mitigation of soil structure and water body destruction, as well as anthropogenic disturbances of nutrient flows 112,113 …”

“…In the remediation of pollutants from waters and soils, PGA is mainly used as a flocculant [ 45 , 46 ] for the removal of heavy metals [ 47 , 48 , 49 , 50 ], or for dichlorination of chlorinated compounds in groundwater [ 51 ]. Research also shows its usefulness in repairing saline-alkali land [ 52 , 53 ]. In the literature, however, there is less research on the possibility of using PGA in the remediation of organic pollutants.…”
