“…11e13 We recently developed an original objective method to measure overnight cough in pediatric patients using a cough monitor, which is simple, safe, and effort independent. 14 Our system also demonstrates a good correlation with the natural cough counts obtained using the current gold standard: the video-audio method. 14 The aims of the present study were to classify the cough severity and to evaluate a characteristic pattern of cough frequency in children with asthma using an objective cough monitoring system.…”

“…18 Furthermore, the sensitivity and specificity of our system are 98.8% and 97.8%, respectively, which indicates that the method is reliable for the objective monitoring of nocturnal cough in children. 14 The precise results of the nocturnal cough count in each 30-minute interval may reveal new aspect about childhood cough.…”

“…Chronic cough is common in old people, and the objective monitoring of chronic cough in the daily life helps to improve the quality of life of the aged with chronic cough [69,70]. Many doctors stress the importance of early diagnosis of childhood asthma and infantile pneumonia [71][72][73]. The objective cough assessment provides a probability for this situation.…”
