A new maximum power point tracking algorithm based on power differentials method for thermoelectric generators

Abstract: Summary This study uses a new maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm for Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) devices. The MPPT algorithm appears as an essential solution due to the nature and the variation characteristics of the TEG devices under certain conditions. In this paper, the power differentials‐maximum power point tracking (PD‐MPPT) algorithm is proposed to control the boost converter by measuring the output power of TEG devices at both the start and finishing points of the power curve along with m… Show more

“…9,10 The authors proposed a new power differentials MPP tracking algorithm for the thermoelectric generators. 11 FLC based method is widely employed to enhance the reliability and efficiency of PVS under normal conditions. The authors proposed input current sensor-based fuzzy MPPT, in which the PV system requires only one sensor to measure the current.…”

“…Consequently, WNO outstretched their BS numbers pointedly to distribute more excellent data rates to numerous wireless expedients that ensure higher accessibility in point nodes [3]. Therefore, a steep rise is perceived in energy consumption and operational expenditure (OPEX) [4]. In recent times, the immense integration of IoT devices is performed with wireless access grids that led to vast energy consumption.…”

“…A new MPPT method for TEGs based on power differentials has been proposed by Yahya and Alomari. 20 They used a Kalman filter to reduce the fluctuations of the TEG. Nonuniform temperature distribution can cause multiple local maximum power points in a centralized TEGS.…”

“…The results employing the type-2 FL are compared with conventional methods including INR, perturb and observe (P&O), and type-1 FL. With a variable load (15,20, and 25 Ω), the proposed approach takes around 7 ms to reach a steady state with 2.6, 3.9, and 5.2 W overshoot, respectively, and almost zero oscillation. With a fixed load and a fixed temperature difference, our proposed tracker decreases the response time by 35.84%, 45.27%, and 96.50% compared to INR, P&O, and conventional FL, respectively.…”
