A new lignan glycoside and phenolics from the branch wood of Pinus banksiana Lambert

Abstract: Phytochemical investigation of branch wood of Pinus banksiana Lambert resulted in the isolation of a new lignan glycoside, which was named phillyrin-6 ″ -α -rhamnoside. The structure of the new compound was mainly elucidated by chemical and spectral evidence including 2D nuclear magnetic resonance studies. In addition, four known phenolics, including a phenylpropanoid glucoside (trans-isoconiferin), a phenolic acid (caffeic acid), a neolignan (cedrusin), and a lignan glucoside (phillyrin), were reported for th… Show more

“…Forestry residues such as tree barks and branches are important but underexplored supplies of biologically or pharmaceutically active compounds (Liimatainen et al 2012;Si et al 2012;Patinha et al 2013). Tree bark, for example, provides not only a physical protective barrier for plants, but also an important chemical defense mediated through the secondary compounds they produce (Horsfall 1980;Merrill 1992;Alfredsen et al 2008).…”

“…Different components in plants are a rich source far from being well utilized ( Si et al, 2008b , 2009a ; An et al, 2019 ; Du et al, 2019 ; Li et al, 2019 ; Liu et al, 2020a ; Liu H. et al, 2021 ; Liu K. et al, 2021 ), and chemical constituents from plants demonstrate various significant bioactivities ( Si et al, 2008a , 2009b , 2013a ; Huang et al, 2018 , 2019 ; Liu et al, 2020b ). The present study indicates that 60% EtOH extracts from ASFT or oregonin treatment prevents oxidative stress-induced apoptosis and ameliorated DHT-mediated hair loss signaling ( Figure 12 ) in different dose ranges between each material.…”
