A New Hydrophilic Copolymer Membrane for Dermabrasion

Abstract: Omiderm, a hydrophilic copolymer membrane, is a new dressing for the postoperative care of the dermabrasion patient. The unique physical properties of this dressing will be examined. Based on the clinical experiences presented, suggestions will be outlined that facilitate the best results from its use following dermabrasion.

“…This thin and flexible membrane is characterized by a high water flux of about 5000 g/m 2 /24 hours but impermeability to biologic particles such as blood cells and high‐molecular weight fluids. On the other hand, it is capable of absorbing water up to 100% of its weight (7).…”

By combining of PDGF gel with a thin translucent membrane, the wounds could easily be controlled without unnecessary removal of the wound dressing.…”
