A new hybrid analytical model for electromagnetic analysis of wound rotor induction motors

Abstract: Accurate modeling of slotting and magnetic saturation effects has been two main challenges for analytical modeling of electric machines. In this article, first, different techniques such as sub-domain (S-D) model, winding function theory, magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) model, and conformal mapping (CM) method are introduced to analytical model and analysis of electric machines. These techniques are also compared in terms of their accuracy, and computational complexity. Second, with respect to the comparison… Show more

“…Hague's solution [24,25] is used to calculate the scalar magnetic potential in canonical domain due to jth virtual coil as shown in Equation ( 6). The air-gap flux density due to jth virtual coil in canonical and physical slotless air gaps is then calculated as shown in Equations ( 7)- (11). Formula ( 7) is a famous mathematical principle in electromagnetics, which is used to calculate the components of air-gap magnetic flux density while having the distribution of scalar magnetic potential.…”

“…One hybrid analytical model (HAM) based on models of MEC and subdomain has been also presented in ref. [10,11], which considers the iron parts by MEC model and other regions through sub-domain model. A novel mesh-based reluctance network was introduced in ref.…”

“…Therefore, the traditional magnetic field calculation method is no longer suitable for HTS machines. At present, the general methods for calculating motor field include the finite element method (FEM) [13,14,15], conformal transformation method [16,17,18,19], equivalent magnetic circuit method [20,21,22,23], and subdomain analytical method [24,25,26,27]. In this paper, we present an accurate sub-domain analytical model for calculating the magnetic field of a synchronous generator with high-temperature superconducting (HTS) excitation and armature windings that have a non-magnetic fixture.…”
