In this article, three mirror activation pattern (MAP) selection techniques are used to improve the performance of energy-efficient hexagonal quadrature amplitude modulation (HQAM) aided media-based modulation (MBM) system called HMBM. These three MAP selection (MS) aided HQAM techniques: (i) capacity-optimized MS-based HMBM (CMS-HMBM) scheme, (ii) MAP correlation (MC) aided MS-based HMBM (MMS-HMBM) scheme, (iii) Euclidean distance (ED) based MS aided HMBM (EMS-HMBM) scheme. MBM technique, one of the newest and most competitive candidates of the index modulation family, increases spectral efficiency linearly and significantly improves error performance. When MS techniques are integrated into telecommunication techniques, they significantly increase the performance of the system. Extensive computer simulations with Monte Carlo for the considered systems are performed on Rayleigh fading channels. The suggested system offers superior error performance than the conventional MBM scheme since it incorporates CMS, MMS, and EMS techniques. Additionally, the suggested new method offers greater energy efficiency than M-QAM constellation schemes since HQAM constellation schemes are by their very nature high energy efficiency. It is shown that the proposed CMS-HMBM, MMS-HMBM, and EMS-HMBM systems provide better error performance than capacity-optimized antenna selection (COAS) aided hexagonal spatial modulation (COAS-HSM), antenna correlation-based AS aided HSM (ACAS-HSM), Euclidean distance optimized AS aided HSM (EDAS-HSM), SM, and MBM systems for the same spectral efficiency. The suggested systems are envisaged for usage in sixth-generation and later wireless networks because of their high performance provided by the CMS, MMS, and EMS methods in the proposed system and the high spectral efficiency provided by the HMBM approach.

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) structures reflect the incident signals by adjusting phase adaptively according to the channel condition where doing transmission in order to increase signal quality at the receiver. Besides, the spatial modulation (SM) technique is a possible candidate for future energy-efficient wireless communications due to providing better throughput, low-cost implementation and good error performance. Also, Alamouti's space-time block coding (ASBC) is an important space and time coding technique in terms of diversity gain and simplified ML detection. In this paper, we proposed the RIS assisted received spatial modulation (RSM) scheme with ASBC, namely RIS-RSM-ASBC. The termed RIS is portioned by two parts in the proposed system model. Each one is utilized as an access point (AP) to transmit its Alamouti coded information while reflecting passive signals to the selected received antenna. The optimal maximum likelihood (ML) detector is designed for the proposed RIS-RSM-ASBC scheme. Extensive computer simulations are conducted to corroborate theoretical derivations. Results show that RIS-RSM-ASBC system is highly reliable and provides data rate enhancement in contrast to conventional RIS assisted transmit SM (RIS-TSM), RIS assisted transmit quadrature SM (RIS-TQSM), RIS assisted received SM (RIS-RSM), RIS assisted transmit space shift keying with ASBC (RIS-TSSK-ASBC) and RIS-TSSK-VBLAST schemes.

SummaryVoice services have progressed significantly since the launch of mobile phones and have evolved from analog technology to digital ones. Since the launch of 5G, voice over 5G (Vo5G) will slowly take over legacy mobile technologies to provide better voice services. Nevertheless, interruptions and noise will continue to affect speech communication over wireless networks, ensuing in a reduced Quality of Service (QoS). Three enhanced transmission schemes for Vo5G are proposed. The first proposal benefits from the difference in weight of the bits of internet Low Bitrate Code (iLBC) coded packets to offer them diverse degrees of protection i.e. Unequal Error Protection (UEP). UEP enhances the reception quality by allowing the more significant bits to be decoded with greater reliability during 5G transmission. The second and third schemes substitute the usual Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) constellation with a Statistical QAM (SQAM) one. The second scheme arranges the significant bits on the SQAM constellation and the remaining bits onto the conventional QAM arrangement. For the third scheme, all the bits are arranged on the SQAM constellation. Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) were incorporated into the third scheme as the third scheme provided better gains over the first and second schemes. GAN was used to synthesize and enhance parts of the speech file that were lost during transmission over the 5G channel resulting in a gain in Segmented Signal to Noise Ratio (SSNR). The addition of GAN boosted the gain obtained by the third scheme by 1.45 dB with 16‐QAM at a code rate of 1/3.
