A New Genus of the Actinomycetales: Microellobosporia gen.nov.

Abstract: SUMMARYTwo aerobic mesophilic species of a new genus belonging to the family Actinoplanaceae are described under the name Microellobosporia ( M . cinerea type species). The new genus is characterized by the production of small club-shaped sporangia on the aerial mycelium. Similar stuctures are also formed on the substrate mycelium. The non-motile sporangiospores are few in number and arranged in a single straight row inside the sporangium.

“…MICROIBIOL. Microellobosporia (Cross, Lechevalier, and Lechevalier, 1963) were also identical to those obtained from typical streptomycetes. Thus, these sporangia-bearing actinomycetes appear to form a link between the streptomycetes and the rest of the Actinoplanaceae.…”

Each sporangium contains only one chain of spores Genus : Microellobosporia, Cross, Lechevalier & Lechevalier, 1963 A species of Actimplanes (A. urmeniucus) has been reported in which aerial conidiawereproduced t It seems that more study is required to differentiate clearly the mode of spores formation in this as motile peritrichously flagellate sporangiospores (Kalakoutskii & Kuznetsov, 1964).…”
