A New Front-End High-Resolution Sampling Board for the New-Generation Electronics of EXOGAM2 and NEDA Detectors

Abstract: International audienceThis paper presents the final design and results of the FADC Mezzanine for the EXOGAM (EXOtic GAMma array spectrometer) and NEDA (Neutron Detector Array) detectors. The measurements performed include those of studying the effective number of bits, the energy resolution using HP-Ge detectors, as well as timing histograms and {\rm n}/\gamma discrimination performance. Finally, the conclusion shows how a common digitizing device has been integrated in the experimental environment of two very… Show more

“…These contacts make it possible to describe the location of the event (right side in Figure 3) Electronic detection systems significantly affect the quality of test data. New engineering matrix structures use high-speed analog-to-digital (A/D) devices, high-speed optical data transfers, and reconfigurable logic devices in the front electronics to add channels and complex processing algorithms [21]. Therefore, NUMEXO2 provides a common solution for more detection systems, reducing time and resources.…”

“…The aim of this study is to demonstrate the design, performance verification and efficiency of a digital electronic system, namely NUMEXO2, with an EXOGAM2 (EXOtic GAMma array) detector located at GANIL, France [1,2]. Gamma-ray spectroscopy is the most widely used technique for observing nuclear characteristics, providing insights into the behavior and structure of nuclei.…”

“…In order to optimize the algorithm parameter, 𝑅, a model of neutron detector array similar to NEDA [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] is used as a study case where one layer of hexagonal detectors are tiled on the surface of a sphere of 50 cm of radius. Each detector has a liquid scintillator tube surrounded by a 20-cm long aluminum hexagonal can.…”

“…Algorithms for clustering particle deposits on calorimeters or hits in detector arrays are increasingly needed tools for particle reconstructions in experimental physics since the complexity of the experiments is higher than ever. Beside the general need, this manuscript is also motivated by a need for clustering methods for neutron reconstruction in a TÜBİTAK project on NEDA (NEutron Detector Array) experiments where heavy ions are collided providing high rates of neutron final states hitting scintillator detectors [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9].…”

“…The scintillators will be coupled to 5 in. PMTs for readout of the scintillation light and the signals will be digitised by electronic modules specifically designed for NEDA [31][32][33]. Modern neutron detector arrays, such as NEDA, combine two techniques for discrimination of neutrons and γ rays: pulse-shape analysis and time-of-flight (TOF).…”
