A New Format for Handling Nuclear Data

Abstract: Tenreiro, C (Tenreiro, Claudio)Talca Univ, Santiago, ChileThe ASCII ENDF format for nuclear data has been used for four decades. It is practical for human inspection and portability, but; it is not very effective for manipulating and displaying the data or for using them in Monte-Carlo applications. In this paper we present a prototype of a nuclear data manipulation package (TNudy) based on the ROOT system (http://root.cern.ch). The ROOT object-oriented C++ framework is the de-facto standard in high energy and… Show more

“…The data are obtained by using TNudy [51,52], which is a nuclear data manipulation package based on ROOT system. From the results of the benchmark simulations, the developed model is found to reproduce well the experimental data for (c, xn) reactions in the GDR region.…”

“…G4DPNch is used for simulating final states for photonuclear reactions. To extract the production cross-sections of residual nuclides and energy-angle distributions for emission particles, we combine the ENDF MF = 3 and MF = 6 data using TNudy [51,52]. For 197 Au, for example, the photoabsorption cross-section and the isotope production cross-sections are plotted in Fig.…”

“…Extracted nuclear data are converted into the GEANT4 format by using a TNudy (rooT NUclear Data librarY) program [39,40] which is a nuclear data manipulation package based on the ROOT system [41]. The program can easily search, access and visualize the nuclear data relevant for user's specific purpose [39,40].…”

“…The advantage of this way is that we can make use of the vast amount of well-tested well-organized functionalities of ROOT. Our project is named as "TNudy", which stands for "rooT NUclear Data librarY" [7]. Below we will describe the structures and features of TNudy, and report on the current status of the development.…”
