A new family of complexes derived from bis(imino)pyridine‐type ligands: Crystal structures and bio‐molecular interaction studies

Abstract: Bis(imino)pyridine (NNN)‐type ligand [(PyPhime‐Cina) = 2,6‐bis((E)‐1‐phenyl‐2‐((E)‐3‐phenylallylidene)hydrazinyl)pyridine] was synthesized, and a new family of metal complexes [Mn(PyPhime‐Cina)Cl2] (1), [Fe(PyPhime‐Cina)Cl2] (2), [Co(PyPhime‐Cina)Cl2] (3), [Ni(PyPhime‐Cina)Cl2] (4), and [Cu(PyPhime‐Cina)Cl2] (5), derived from the ligand, have been synthesized and characterized. Molecular structures of the ligand and complexes 1‐5 were determined using X‐ray crystallography. Electronic properties and frontier m… Show more

“…Based on the literature, 40,50,51 a plausible mechanism was proposed for this cobalt( ii )-catalysed alkane oxidation (shown in Scheme 6). When tert -butyl hydrogen peroxide (TBHP) is added to the solution of cobalt( ii ) complex ( A ) Co( ii ) alkyl peroxo species ( B ) formed.…”

“…37 A broad band near 515 nm due to ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) was shown by complex 2, which clearly indicated the ligation of the ligand with the metal centre. 40 The electronic spectral data for complexes 1 and 2 are shown in ESI † (Table S1), and spectra are shown in ESI † (Fig. S5 and S6).…”

“…rhodium, iridium and rhenium) employed as catalytic precursors for the TH of ketones from isopropanol [9–14] . Among them, ruthenium compounds have played a leading role, [15–20] and related work in this area by Noyori was awarded with the Nobel Prize in 2001 [21] . A considerable number of ruthenium(II) arene complexes, bearing a wide diversity of co‐ligands, has been intensively investigated, showing a variable catalytic activity [22–30] .…”

“…Consequently, many timely reported works for the oxidation of alcohols, for example, the catalytic action of Fe 2+/3+ ‐complexes of pyridylaminophenols, [ 16 ] carbohydrazides, [ 17 ] polydentate phosphines, [ 18 ] hydrazinylpyridine, [ 19 ] phenol‐pyrazoles, [ 20 ] aminophenolates, [ 21 ] pyridylimines, [ 22 ] phthalocyanines, [ 23 ] and azo‐arylhydrazones [ 24 ] were presented in the oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols and under various reaction conditions.…”
