A new cytotoxic acylated apigenin glucoside fromPhyllanthus emblicaL.

Abstract: A new acylated apigenin glucoside (apigenin-7-O-(6''-butyryl-beta-glucopyranoside) (1) was isolated from the methanolic extract of the leaves of Phyllanthus emblica L. (Euphorbiaceae) together with the known compounds; gallic acid (2), methyl gallate (3), 1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloylglucose (4) and luteolin-4'-O-neohesperiodoside (5). Their chemical structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic studies ((1)H NMR, (13)C NMR, DEPT, HSQC, HMBC).

“…Phyllanthus emblica is reported to contain ellagitannins, such as, phyllanemblinins A-F (Zhang et al, 2001), flavonoids, such as, kaempferol-3-O-␣-l-(6 -methyl)-rhamnopyranoside and kaempferol-3-O-␣-l-(6 -ethyl)-rhamnopyranoside (Zhang et al, 2001a) and apigenin glucoside (El-Desouky et al, 2008). Its roots are reported to contain norsesquiterpenoid glycosides, such as, phyllaemblicins A-C, E and F, and phyllaemblic acid, a methyl ester (Liu et al, 2009).…”

“…Amla is a good source of polyphenols, flavones, tannins and mixture of bioactive compounds having strong antioxidants effect which leads to the health benefit effects. Numerous active compounds like gallic acid, ellagic acid, 1-Ogalloyl-D glucose, chebulininc acid, quercetin, chebulagic acid, kaempferol, mucic acid 1, 4-lactone 3-O-gallate, isocorilagin, chebulanin, mallotusinin and acylatedapigenin glucoside have been isolated from the aqueous extract of Amla (El-Deousky et al, 2008 (Patil et al, 2012;Javale and Sabnis, 2010;Mehrotra et al, 2010). The present study was conducted to assess the shelf life of goat meat patties added with amla fruit and its seed coat in vacuum packaged condition stored at 4±1 0 C as a natural preservatives.…”
