“…The pseudo-second order swelling kinetics model (Equation ( 3)) and the Ritger-Peppas model (Equation ( 4)) were used to analyze the experimental swelling data to evaluate the swelling behavior of SAPC, with results shown in Figure 6a,b [40][41][42]:…”

“…Figure 8 showed the reswelling capability for PAA/SC superabsorbent composites as a function of reswelling times in distilled water. It can be seen that the PAA/SC (14 wt%), PAA/SC (10 wt%) and PAA/SC (6 wt%) showed good reswelling capability and still retained approximately 66.06%, 61.68% and 55.74% of their initial water absorbency after re-swelling seven times [ 48 ]. These results suggested that the superabsorbent composites of PAA/SC were reusable and recyclable water-absorbing materials, and can be especially useful in agricultural applications.…”

“…When the neutralization degree is too high, (for instance, over 70%), a large amount of –COONa is produced in the composite. The formation of massive –COO − leads to an increase in ionic strength, which will cause electrostatic screening, preventing further swelling of the gel in saline solution [ 32 ]. As shown in Figure 3 , the optimized neutralization degree was found to be 70%.…”
