With the advancement of new technologies, the number of connected devices, the amount of data generated, and the need to build an intelligently connected network of things to improve and enrich the human ecosystem open new doors to modifications and adaptations of current cellular network infrastructures. While more focus is given to low power wide area (LPWA) applications and devices, a significant challenge is the definition of Internet of Things (IoT) use cases and the value generation of applications on already existing IoT devices. Smartphones and related devices are currently manufactured with a wide range of smart sensors such as accelerometers, video sensors, compasses, gyros, proximity sensors, fingerprint sensors, temperature sensors, and biometric sensors used for various purposes. Many of these sensors can be automatically expanded to monitor a user’s daily activities (e.g., fitness workouts), locations, movements, and real-time body temperatures. Mobile network operators (MNOs) play a substantial role in providing IoT communications platforms, as they manage traffic flow in the network. In this paper, we discuss the global concept of IoT and machine-type communication (MTC), and we conduct device performance analytics based on data traffic collected from a cellular network. The experiment equips service providers with a model and framework to monitor device performance in a network.

Internet of Things (IoT) in recent days playing a vital role in networking related applications. However, there are several protocols available for building IoT applications, but RPL and CoAP are important protocols.There is a customized protocol requirement for specific IoT applications, while working on specific research problems. Further, adequate platforms are required to evaluate the performance of these protocols. These platforms need to be configured for the protocol, which is very crucial and timeconsuming task. At present, there is no collective and precise information available to carry out this work. This paper discusses two different open source platforms available for IoT. Also,various IoT research ideas need to design of IoT protocols. A few IoT communication technologies are mentioned in the paper. The detail analysis of, two common protocols, namely Routing Protocol for Low-Power Lossy Networks (RPL) and Constrained Application layer protocol (CoAP) is carried out with respect to latency delay and packet delivery ratio. The results, discussion and conclusion presented in this paper are useful for researchers, who are interested to work with IoT protocols and standards.

The manufacturing industry is eager to implement the advancements of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) due to the magnitude of the benefits it can provide. Hence, Industry 4.0 opens a wide avenue for researchers to explore possibilities in the field of the supply chain. This project focuses on building a decision framework for a supply chain system with disruptions. The impact of strategic decisions under the condition of unprecedented events for a vehicle routing problem (VRP) using simulation models is studied here. Those results help the supply chain managers in making sound decisions regarding different scenarios of disruption in VRP. To achieve this, multiple cases under different scenarios of facility disruption are considered. For all cases, the dependent parameter, namely, retailer service level and lost revenue, form the basis of the decision framework. The concept of live data is implemented by making retailer demand, current inventory at the depot, the position of the vehicle in the network and the current number of units in transit as the input data.
