A music formulation model of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT-music)

Abstract

This article uses ‘November Rain’ by Guns N’ Roses to demonstrate how a song or music piece can be used to elicit a service users’ thoughts, feelings and behaviours. The concept of a positive and negative music formulation is explained and clinical implications for this potentially innovative approach is discussed.
