Generally, handwriting can reflect writers' personality, thoughts, and emotions, i.e., handwriting can deliver emotionand sincereness-embedded messages. However, texting messages and notes such as emails and instant messages replace handwriting letters and notes in communication due to the popularity and availability of mobile devices and personal computers. Furthermore, the commonly used input methods and devices also limit handwriting messaging. For example, limited mobile screen sizes make writing multiple Chinese characters difficult. As a result, this work aims at designing and developing a handwriting messaging system based on our handwriting characteristic exploration and texting-handwriting difference discovery. We first discover Chinese texting issues for mobile devices and emotion-delivered effectiveness of handwriting with pilot studies. Then, our emotion-embedded handwriting messaging framework is implemented to record writing strokes on the entire touch screen, vectorize them as Bézier curves, and send them as instant messages. Vectorizing strokes can preserve personal and emotional handwriting features with compact networking traffic without deteriorating the convenience of instant messaging. Finally, we conduct user studies to verify that our handwriting messaging system is preferred while intending to deliver contents with sincerity and emotion.

Handwriting analysis dates back to many centuries ago. Graphology is a discipline that investigates personality and intellect of the individual through writing, indeed handwriting of the human being is an expression of his or her essence. Graphology examines a writing in order to extract unfiltered information about innate temperament and subconscious nature of who has traced the letters. The present paper highlights the historical and methodological approaches of graphology and its usefulness in human knowledge in order to give a glimpse of the complexity of this discipline. We have gradually focused on the description of the various fields with which, over time until today, the graphologists have dealt according to experimental and epistemological methodologies along a spectrum that ranges from studies on the character, the neuronal and biological correlates, the use in the forensic field, until to the contributions to career counseling and personnel selection. This manuscript aims to provide a quantitative picture of the handwriting analysis trying to combine insights from different sources and exploring conditions, limits and possibilities of its subject matter and methods involved. Handwriting analysis draws reliable conclusions about the spirit personality of a writer. We suppose that graphology and psychology could complement each other, and in this perspective, we explore the hypothesis of the existence of a bidirectional relationship between psychology, graphology and neuroscience which allows to gain insight into ourselves and others.

There are several methods of implicit measurement. A very valid and wide spread assessment of motives by using the technique of projection is picture story exercises (PSE). Graphology, as theory of inferences on personality and motives by analyzing handwriting, is another one. The presented study examines the commons of the both measurement methods and their prediction of achievement behaviour. So, the achievement motive of 189 students was assessed using the PSE of Heckhausen (1963) and afterwards their handwriting was scored by a categorical system of Ploog (2013). Achievement related behaviour was operatively analyzed with self-reported learning time, learning behaviour and task-choice performance. It is shown that implicit motives measured by PSE are related with the criteria of task-choice performance. It is shown that both implicit motives measured by PSE and graphological variables deliver information about learning variables.
