A multipurpose microcomputer system in the physician's office

Abstract

The physician's office usually encounters computer technology in respect to business needs. However, the same technology can be applied to the acquisition of physiologic data. Such an expansion in computer utilization represents substantial saving in money and space. This concept has been implemented successfully in an Otolaryngologist's office where the microcomputer is utilized for both office data processing and physiologic testing. In addition to medical accounting, word processing and data base management this office is able to utilize the microcomputer for auditory brainstem evoked response testing (ABSER), electronystagmographic (ENG) and acoustic reflex data storage and analysis. This versatile utilization of the computer is both efficient and cost effective.
