A multi to wideband frequency reconfigurable antenna

Abstract: A frequency reconfigurable antenna with a simple design structure and biasing circuit is presented. The antenna is able to configure its frequencies to operate either in multiband or wideband modes. The antenna is fed by a coplanar waveguide transmission line. The reconfiguration characteristics of the antenna is achieved by using PIN diode switches. The operating frequencies of the multiband mode are designed within the wideband mode operating range, from 2 to 6 GHz. Both simulated and measured results of S11… Show more

“…In the aspect of reconfigurable antennas, switching ability from multiband to wideband mode has been performed and demonstrated in [7]. Another design included two symmetrical slots that were fed with the help of a forkshaped microstrip line; once reconfigured, a broadband range was obtained [8].…”

“…The wideband-to-narrowband reconfigurable circularly polarized antennas are considered as the most suitable solution for the cognitive radio systems because it is able to switch between the ultra-wideband mode for sensing and multiple narrowband modes for communicating and the circular polarization allows signal reception irrespective of the orientation of transmit and receive antenna. The previous researchers carried out several methods to design the wideband-to-narrowband antennas [8]- [11]. An ellipticalshaped monopole antenna with two open loop bandpass filter…”

“…The antenna is circularly polarized when operating at ultrawideband mode and linearly polarized when operating at the narrowband mode. While in [16], a two port circularly polarized reconfigurable antenna is presented. The antenna consists of two triangle monopole antennas connected with a narrow link to produce a circular polarization operation.…”
