A multi-objective algorithm for DS-CDMA code design based on the clonal selection principle

Abstract: This paper proposes a new algorithm based on the clonal selection principle for the design of spreading codes for DS-CDMA. The algorithm follows a multi-objective approach, generating complex spreading codes with good autocorrelation as well as good crosscorrelation properties. It also enables spreading code design with no restrictions on the number of users or code length. The algorithm maintains a repertoire of codes that are subject to cloning and undergo a process of affinity maturation to obtain better co… Show more

“…It has also the advantage of being simple to implement and easy to understand. Because of these good features, CLONALG has been used in the literature [23,[26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33] for solving various kinds of challenging engineering problems. In our previous work [32], the CLONALG has been firstly applied to solve the pattern nulling problem of the linear antenna array by amplitude-only control.…”

“…The DC motor speed control system has the characteristics of multivariate, strong coupling and nonlinearity. With the requirements of higher speed performance, the traditional PID control is difficult to obtain satisfactory results [1]. The intelligent control can make full use of its nonlinearity, variable structure, self-adaptive and other function to overcome the varying parameters, variable structure, nonlinearity and other factors of the DC motor speed control system, therefore, the static and dynamic performance and robustness of the system could be improved.…”

“…It has the ability of getting out local minima, operates on a population of points in search space simultaneously, not on just one point, does not use the derivative or any other information, and employs probabilistic transition rules instead of deterministic ones. These good features of the CLONALG have prompted the researchers for using it to handle various kind of challenging engineering problems [28,[30][31][32][33][34][35]. To our best knowledge, it is the first attempt to use a method based on the CLONALG in solving the array pattern nulling problem.…”
