Abstract:Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to review the existing literature on Lean Six Sigma (LSS) for services, construct a morphological analysis (MA) framework and identify research gaps to point to future research possibilities and priorities.
Design/methodology/approach
The MA framework is based on literature review of 175 papers published from 2003 to 2015, across 67 journals recognised by Scopus or ABS Academic Journal Quality Guide 2015. A three-phased methodology is used by the authors, with Phase1 feat… Show more
“…The bibliographic analysis method was used. This method uses co-occurrence networks which, represents quantitative content based literature data [22]. In recent state of arts this method is identified as an effective method to represent literature data graphically by dividing it into clusters, to explore the recent trends.…”
Purpose – The main purpose of this paper is to bring a comprehensive understanding of 5G mobile communication technology, its comparison with predecessor technologies, and research issues related to its implementation. Further, this study also attempts to find out its key drivers, potential roadblocks, and benefits related to this technology. It will also suggest a future research road map in this area.
Design/methodology/approach – An in-depth literature review and content analysis of key reports and articles published since 2014 have been carried out to achieve stated research objectives.
Findings – The findings suggest that 5G technology holds a lot of promise but there are challenges of security & privacy, spectrum availability, switching cost, slow infrastructure development, etc., which need to be taken care of before 5G is successfully adopted.
Originality/value – The current research uses an in-depth literature review of all key reports and journal articles that have been published since 2014. Further, it highlights the major issues and challenges that exist for 5G implementation.

“…Machine learning techniques and big data analytics are applied in the healthcare fields for risk management, clinical decision support, chronic disease detection, and for precision medicine using genomic information [134]. The authors presented Lean Six Sigma application for improvements of patients' satisfaction, processing errors in healthcare payer firm using Six Sigma, and services of Lean Six Sigma for morphological analysis of research literature [135]- [137]. Table 9 depicts the research work reported using big data analytics in the fields of healthcare.…”
Section: F Rq5 What Are the Big Data Analytics In Healthcare?mentioning
Healthcare systems are transformed digitally with the help of medical technology, information systems, electronic medical records, wearable and smart devices, and handheld devices. The advancement in the medical big data, along with the availability of new computational models in the field of healthcare, has enabled the caretakers and researchers to extract relevant information and visualize the healthcare big data in a new spectrum. The role of medical big data becomes a challenging task in the form of storage, required information retrieval within a limited time, cost efficient solutions in terms care, and many others. Early decision making based healthcare system has massive potential for dropping the cost of care, refining quality of care, and reducing waste and error. Scientific programming play a significant role to overcome the existing issues and future problems involved in the management of large scale data in healthcare, such as by assisting in the processing of huge data volumes, complex system modelling, and sourcing derivations from healthcare data and simulations. Therefore, to address this problem efficiently a detailed study and analysis of the available literature work is required to facilitate the doctors and practitioners for making the decisions in identifying the disease and suggest treatment accordingly. The peer reviewed reputed journals are selected for the accumulated of published research work during the period ranges from 2015-2019 (a portion of 2020 is also included). A total of 127 relevant articles (conference papers, journal papers, book section, and survey papers) are selected for the assessment and analysis purposes. The proposed research work organizes and summarizes the existing published research work based on the research questions defined and keywords identified for the search process. This analysis on the existence research work will help the doctors and practitioners to make more authentic decisions, which ultimately will help to use the study as evidence for treating patients and suggest medicines accordingly. “…Typically, some lean Six Sigma cases that have been reported in the literature are applied in service settings, including financial service, healthcare and local government. Although service sector covers about 36% of the body of literature concerning Six Sigma, this percentage is rising (Gamal Aboelmaged 2010) and Lean Six Sigma is emerging as a fundamental part of process improvement in service (Sunder, Ganesh, and Marathe 2018).…”
Section: Lean Six Sigma and Its Application In Servicementioning
The aim of this study is to investigate the body of literature on lean published by the International Journal of Production Research (IJPR), which has been interested in the subject since its dawn. This review adopted a dynamic and quantitative bibliometric method composed of the keywords co-occurrence network and keywords burst detection. The analyses performed on keywords co-occurrence networks highlighted how research in IJPR has addressed research on lean over time and allowed a comparison with the consolidated research streams in literature. The burst detection completed the analysis highlighting the trends and most recent research areas characterising IJPR publications. The outcomes of this study reflected the evergreen relevance of lean; indeed, the latest research trajectories identified in IJPR stressed its link with the increasingly topical issues concerning industry 4.0, sustainability and remanufacturing. The analysis recognised in 'lean Six Sigma', and specifically in its support to the service sector, an under-considered topic, hence a scope that offers room for further study, in accordance with IJPR objectives.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
