A MOF/graphite oxide hybrid (MOF: HKUST-1) material for the adsorption of methylene blue from aqueous solution

Abstract: The adsorption of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution on a HKUST-1/GO (MOFs : HKUST-1) composite was studied in view of the adsorption isotherm, kinetics and regeneration of the sorbent. The adsorption isotherms of methylene blue (MB) on the HKUST-1/GO composite followed both the Freundlich isotherm and the Langmuir isotherm. Adsorption kinetics and thermodynamic parameters were determined from the experimental data. The used HKUST-1/GO could be regenerated by acetone, so it can be recycled for reuse. The… Show more

“…The adsorption superiority of the Cu-BTC/PI nanofi bers can be attributed to their special structural features. [ 13 ] The Cu-BTC nanocrystals were well grown on the PI nanofi bers, and hierarchical nanofi bers with a high volume fraction of Cu-BTC can be obtained. In addition, the structure of the hierarchical nanofi bers prevented the aggregation of Cu-BTC nanocrystals, thus resulting in a large adsorption surface area.…”

“…Metal-ligand complex, consisting of ligands interconnected by metallic nodes, has achieved remarkable progress in supermolecular assembly, adsorption, biosensor, and catalysis [25][26][27][28]. Metal ions, as coordinating centre, significantly enrich materials property and a specific application such as stimuli responsive, self-healing, attractive redox, and feasible assembly property can be obtained via deliberately selecting precursors [29][30][31][32].…”

“…This agrees with IR analysis by a different study stating that the symmetric stretching of the carboxyl group in the HKUST-1 is detected between 1384 and 1405 cm −1 . [21] Results of residual ammonia per unit mass of adsorbant are listed in Table 3. The lower the residual ammonia values the greater the adsorbing capacity.…”
