A modular parallelization framework for power flow transfer analysis of large-scale power systems

Abstract: Power flow transfer (PFT) analysis under various anticipated faults in advance is important for securing power system operations. In China, PSD-BPA software is the most widely used tool for power system analysis, but its input/output interface is easily adapted for PFT analysis, which is also difficult due to its computationally intensity. To solve this issue, and achieve a fast and accurate PFT analysis, a modular parallelization framework is developed in this paper. Two major contributions are included. One … Show more

“…PowerWorld is an interactive power system software that simulates high voltage operation on a time frame ranging from several minutes to several days. It is able to solve systems ranging up to 250000 buses [66]. In addition to a number of features such as an intuitive and user-friendly GUI, model explorer, interactive and animated diagrams, modelling capabilities, there are still other add-ons to the base simulator package such as OPF analysis tool, transient stability, integrated topology processing, and a host of other packages.…”

“…The traditional TSA method based on time-domain simulation (TDS) numerically integrates the non-linear differential equations, which precisely describe the complex interactions between components. At present, there are many mature stability analysis programs, such as PSS/E, PSCAD/EMTDC, and PSD-BPA [4,5]. Although the TDS method has high analysis accuracy, it is not applicable to online TSA.…”
