A biologically-inspired, behaviour-based architecture for the integration of sensor data used by robotics systems is introduced, and examples are given which illustrate the control of a simple mobile robot , and also a ball-catching robot. The paper also goes on to discuss the extension of the concepts for more general robotic systems. The limitations of the Subsumption Architecture for general robotic use are explored in the context of mobile robots.
