A Modified Methodology for Generating Indoor Navigation Models

Abstract: Automatic methods for constructing navigation routes do not fully meet all requirements. The aim of this study was to modify the methodology for generating indoor navigation models based on the Medial Axis Transformation (MAT) algorithm. The simplified method for generating corridor axes relies on the Node-Relation Structure (NRS) methodology. The axis of the modeled structure (corridor) is then determined based on the points of the middle lines intersecting the structure (polygon). The proposed solution invol… Show more

“…However, a manual process is often costly and prone to human errors, so many studies are exploring how to automate the abovementioned process. Since the indoor space model constructed using geometric-based approaches is relatively simple, most studies focus on generation of symbolic-based models [1,5,[22][23][24][25]. Scholars divide these algorithms into three categories: visibility graph, straight skeletons, and dual structures.…”

“…Different models have differences in aspects like spatial topology, location reference, model accuracy, routing algorithm, and visualization of the path [15]. Therefore, there are also many scholars studying the methods of generation for different spatial data models [1,5,[22][23][24][25][26].…”

“…Obstacles can be defined according to users' characteristics, providing a flexible solution to pathfinding. The next paper [7] focuses more specifically on the computation of navigation routes. The authors propose an original approach, producing smoother and more natural paths than other existing methods.…”

“…The ANNs method has several advantages over conventional NN as it is easy to use, fast to learn, provide good generalization results, has minimum inaccuracies in training and achieves minimum standard weights. Nowadays, deep learning methods are used in many areas for predictive purposes, such as deep neural networks, deep networks of faith, and recurring neural networks [ 13 , 14 ].…”
