A model for thermoluminescence and related phenomena in PbSO4:Sm

Abstract: A model for energy states in a typical crystal containing substitutional cations is reconsidered with emphasis on the behaviour of electrons normally occupying states in impurity levels in the forbidden band. The model is used to explain thermoluminescence after irradiation and field excitation, the fading of colour centres and the unusual type of luminescence kinetics for which the pre-exponential factor in the rate equation is inversely proportional to the dose. A method of finding activation energies from g… Show more

“…Also in this case, PBE slightly underestimates the experimental band gap of 4.2 eV. 31 While HSE predicts a too large band gap, the G 0 W 0 results are the closest to experiment, E g ( G 0 W 0 ) = 4.13 eV.…”

“…The detailed researches of the trap energy spectrum showed that, in various crystals -e.g., Ba [16], NaCl [17], LiF [18], KCl and NaI [19], ZnS:Cu [20], AlN:O [21], PbSO 4 [22], CaS [23] and ZnSe [24] -the energy positions of local trap levels are equidistant and can be described by the harmonic oscillator formula…”
