“…From an analysis of the competency statements and categorizing systems five problem areas were identified: (a) the lack of an adequate categorizing system; (b) the disproportionate distribution of competency statements across the categories; (c) the absence of competency statements describing certain tasks; (d) the confounding of knowledge, skills, and/or personal characteristics within many of the competency statements; and (e) the variation in level of specificity across the domain of competency statements.
