A model based approach for fault diagnosis in converter of photovoltaic systems

Abstract: This paper presents model based approach for diagnosis of open circuit power switch faults in full bridge DC-DC converter of a photovoltaic system. The control circuitry of the proposed converter monitors and regulates output current, whenever output current lowers, controller monitors current at test points and localizes faulty switch by comparing fault features. This minimizes efforts required for manual diagnosis of faulty switch. The faults will be detected and diagnosed automatically and displayed on LCD … Show more

“…Therefore, timely detection and treatment of faults at an early stage can effectively increase the safety and reliability of train operations. As effective tools, model-based and data-driven fault detection (FD) methods are widely used [2][3][4][5] . As we have observed, the FD methods designed by the model have become one of the most advanced methods in the field of transportation [6][7][8] .…”

“…The detection process is done without threshold setting. Others researchers [22] had the idea to build his approach of IGBT open-circuit fault detection on the monitoring and comparison of the instantaneous RMS value of the current of a DC-DC converter at the rated normal RMS. The significant change in the RMS value relative to the normal RMS is considered as an indication of the fault detection and localization.…”
