Abstract:Selection and scaling of an appropriate suite of earthquake ground motion records for consistency with a target spectrum are associated with nonlinear structural response time-history analysis. The commonly used target spectrum could be a uniform hazard spectrum (UHS), conditional (mean) spectrum (CMS or CS). The CMS (CS) overcomes the limitations of the "overly conservative" and "unrealistic spectral shape" of UHS and has been accepted as a more reasonable target spectrum recently. However, the CMS only selec… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
