A MITE-Based Translinear FPAA

Abstract: While the development of reconfigurable analog platforms is a blossoming field, the tradeoff between usability and flexibility continues to be a major barrier. Field Programmable Analog Arrays (FPAAs) built with translinear elements offer a promising solution to this problem. These FPAAs can be built to use previously developed synthesis procedures for translinear circuits. Furthermore, large-scale translinear FPAAs can be built using floating-gate transistors as both the computational elements and the reconfi… Show more

“…The STLS are modified EEPROM devices, fabricated in a standard CMOS process, that simultaneously provide long-term storage (non-volatile), computation, and adaptation in a single device. The development of Large-Scale Field Programmable Analog Arrays (FPAA) enabled configuration to be used for physically based neuromorphic techniques (Twigg et al, 2007; Basu et al, 2010a,b; Schlottmann et al, 2010, 2012a,b, c; Wunderlich et al, 2012). These approaches allow the added advantage of those building applications not to have expertise in IC design, a separation that should prove useful for the neuromorphic community as well.…”

“…In 2012, Fernandez et al [13] proposed a FPAA using translinear element, the CABs are based on the log-domain circuit. Reference [24] reported a FPAA which consists of 18 CABs based on translinear element also. Within each CAB, there are 20 nearest neighbor lines in vertical routing.…”

“…Several generations of FPAA devices have been innovated through the last few years including a family of large-scale FPAA devices of CABs and floating-gate routing useful for computation (Basu et al 2010a(Basu et al , 2010bSchlottmann et al 2012a) as well as further architecture revisions enabling partial rapid reconfigurability (Schlottmann et al 2012b) and integration with low-power configurable digital blocks . These approaches also developed a USB-powered hardware platform (Koziol et al 2010), simple enough to be used in class development , as well as a wide range of software tools enabling high-level Simulink system design that compiles directly to working hardware (Schlottmann (c).…”
