A Misguiding Osteoid Osteoma in the Bicipital Tuberosity of the Radius

Abstract: Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone tumor that appears most frequently in young patients. It is more common in males and it concerns mostly the long bones of the lower limb. A 20-year-old young woman presented to our outpatient department with pain in her left elbow. The symptoms began four years ago. “…O steoid osteoma is a painful bone tumor, and has been infrequently described at various locations within the elbow joint. [1][2][3][4] The lesion is usually associated with disabling pain and occasionally may result in progressive stiffness of the elbow. 5 Radiofrequency ablation is usually the treatment of choice; however, arthroscopic excision has been described as an alternate management option and can be combined with arthroscopic elbow adhesiolysis for restoration of motion.…”

“…Herein, we report the first arthroscopic excision of an intra-articular OO involving the trochlear notch of ulna. The diversity in symptoms and absence of the classical salicylate-responsive night pain resulted in a delayed diagnosis in our patient [ 4 ].…”

“…Osteoid osteoma is a painful benign osteoblastic tumor that most commonly affects young patients. It mainly involves the diaphysis of lower limb long bones (the femur and the tibia in 70% of cases) [1,2]. Elbow localization is very rare, accounting for about 3% of all osteoid osteoma [1].…”
