A mho type phase comparator relay guideline using phase comparison technique for a power system

Abstract: This paper presents a mho distance relay simulation based on the phase comparison technique using a typical electrical power systems analysis software for two cases: when the operation state is close to the static voltage limit and during a dynamic perturbation in the system. The paper evaluates the impedance variations caused by complex voltage values, the mho polarization, and the comparator operating region into the complex plane. In addition, the paper found the information for the dynamic perturbations fr… Show more

“…It comprises a set of equipment used to control the flow of energy and ensure the security of the system by automatic protection devices. Electrical substations are fundamental elements to generate, transport and distribute energy to its ultimate use and protection schemes [17]. The generation electrical substations are in charge of directly controlling the power flow of the system because the production generated by them is directly injected to a transmission network associated to this substation, as well as the maneuvering and distribution substations that belong to its associated network [6].…”

“…In [12], a simulation program-based MATLAB/Simulink is proposed to detect three zones using relays characyeristics, coordination of distance relays and cirduit breakers. In [13], a Mho distance relay simulation based on the phase comparison, technique using a typical electrical power systems analysissoftware.…”
