A Methodology for the Selection of Requirement Elicitation Techniques

Abstract: In this paper, we present an approach to select a subset of requirement elicitation technique for an optimum result in the requirement elicitation process. Our approach consists of three steps. First, we identify various attribute in three important dimensions namely project, people and the process of software development that can influence the outcome of an elicitation process. Second, we construct three p matrix (3PM) separately for each dimension, that shows a relation between the elicitation techniques and… Show more

“…Kiran and Ali [23] explored that the requirement elicitation process is very complex and critical as engineers from various locales of the world build up the framework, so it's tough to accumulate requirements for such frameworks. This paper focuses on how the procedure of requirement elicitation is completed for open source software and the various ways utilized to streamline the process of requirement elicitation by using a variety of tools, strategies, and methodologies.…”

“…RE is not a simple activity, either in a teaching-learning context or in a real-life context [19]. RE comprises several activities in itself: elicitation, analysis, modeling and specification, validation, as well as requirements management [20], the purpose of which is to express, through a requirements specification document, the purpose and functionality of a software system [21], [22]. Thus, gathering, understanding, analyzing and specifying a set of requirements requires systematic, quantifiable and repeatable techniques that ensure integrity, consistency, and relevance of the requirements.…”
