A method to increase the accuracy of fast Fourier transform calculations for rapidly varying functions

Abstract

The calculation of fast Fourier transforms (FFT) for rapidly varying functions may be improved by subtracting beforehand a convenient auxiliary function, chosen in such a manner that the representative curve resulting from the subtraction exhibits only smooth variations.The quality of improvement may depend on the auxiliary func tion.
