A method to increase the accuracy of fast Fourier transform calculations for rapidly varying functions

Abstract: The calculation of fast Fourier transforms (FFT) for rapidly varying functions may be improved by subtracting beforehand a convenient auxiliary function, chosen in such a manner that the representative curve resulting from the subtraction exhibits only smooth variations. The quality of improvement may depend on the auxiliary func tion.
