A Method for Rapidly Determining the Seismic Performance of Buildings Based on Remote‐Sensing Imagery and Its Application

Abstract: Remote-sensing images are visually interpreted in this study to obtain information on buildings in the urban and rural areas of Ningxia, China. Overall, area estimates yielded by the proposed equations followed a normal distribution. Correlation and error analyses indicated that the coefficients are reasonable and reliable and that the building area estimates have an accuracy of 90% and are also reliable. These results were used in conjunction with drone aerial images, Baidu street view images, and paper maps … Show more

“…It utilizes cameras or sensors mounted on drones to capture ground images, and then identifies specific objects on the ground through image processing. This technology is widely applied in various fields, such as agricultural monitoring [1], environmental protection [2], urban planning [3], disaster assessment [4], intelligence reconnaissance [5], and more, providing significant support and contributions to the development of human society. However, despite its rapid growth, it also faces a series of challenges.…”

“…The seismic assessment landscape has evolved significantly, as evidenced by historical seismic damage detection methodologies. Early approaches in the 1970s and 1980s heavily relied on conventional techniques such as field surveys and aerial photography [1]- [3]. A paradigm shift occurred in the 1990s with the integration of satellite imagery and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).…”
