A method for improving the performance of centering rod surveying based on two-position correction

Abstract: Aiming at the problem that accelerometer’s bias and scale factor error decrease the measurement accuracy of centering rod surveying, a performance improving method for pitch measurement is proposed. The error model of centering rod surveying is built so that the relationship between pitch measurement error and accelerometer’s bias and scale factor error are clear. Numerical simulations are conduced out and the error variation is revealed. A two-position correction method is come up and twelve verification expe… Show more

“…In addition, the IMU can assist RTK measurements by increasing the speed of aligning the bubble to the level of the centering pod in traditional measurement [17]. In [18], a method was proposed to rectify the reduction in the measurement accuracy of the tilt of the centering rod caused by the bias and scale factor error of the accelerometer. A model for the measurement error of the centering rod was established that related the pitch measurement error and the two aforementioned fixed errors of the accelerometer.…”
