Background Maintaining machines effectively continues to be a challenge for industrial organisations, which frequently employ reactive or premeditated methods. Recent research has begun to shift its attention towards the application of Predictive Maintenance (PdM) and Digital Twins (DT) principles in order to improve maintenance processes. PdM technologies have the capacity to significantly improve profitability, safety, and sustainability in various industries. Significantly, precise equipment estimation, enabled by robust supervised learning techniques, is critical to the efficacy of PdM in conjunction with DT development. This study underscores the application of PdM and DT, exploring its transformative potential across domains demanding real-time monitoring. Specifically, it delves into emerging fields in healthcare, utilities (smart water management), and agriculture (smart farm), aligning with the latest research frontiers in these areas. Methodology Employing the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) criteria, this study highlights diverse modeling techniques shaping asset lifetime evaluation within the PdM context from 34 scholarly articles. Results The study revealed four important findings: various PdM and DT modelling techniques, their diverse approaches, predictive outcomes, and implementation of maintenance management. These findings align with the ongoing exploration of emerging applications in healthcare, utilities (smart water management), and agriculture (smart farm). In addition, it sheds light on the critical functions of PdM and DT, emphasising their extraordinary ability to drive revolutionary change in dynamic industrial challenges. The results highlight these methodologies’ flexibility and application across many industries, providing vital insights into their potential to revolutionise asset management and maintenance practice for real-time monitoring. Conclusions Therefore, this systematic review provides a current and essential resource for academics, practitioners, and policymakers to refine PdM strategies and expand the applicability of DT in diverse industrial sectors.

BackgroundHead and neck cancer is the 6th most common malignancy worldwide, and its incidence is still on the rise. The salvage surgery has been considered as an important treatment strategy for persistent or recurrent head and neck cancer. Therefore, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of salvage surgery for head and neck cancer since the 21st century.MethodsThe literature about salvage surgery of head and neck cancer in Web of Science was searched. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to analyze main countries, institutions, authors, journals, subject hotspots, trends, frontiers, etc.ResultsA total of 987 papers have been published since the 21st century. These publications were written by 705 authors from 425 institutions in 54 countries. The United States published 311 papers in this field and ranked first. Head & Neck was the most widely published journal. The main keyword clustering included terms such as #0 stereotactic radiotherapy (2012); #1 randomized multicenter (2007); #2 salvage surgery (2004); #3 functional outcomes (2014); #4 transoral robotic surgery (2013); #5 neck high-resolution computed tomography (2010); #6 complications (2008); #7 image guidance (2019). The current research frontiers that have been sustained are “recurrent”, “risk factors”, and “reirradiation”.ConclusionThe current situation of the salvage surgery for head and neck cancer in clinical treatments and basic scientific research were summarized, providing new perspectives for the development of salvage surgery for head and neck cancer in the future.

This study delves into a bibliometric analysis of ChatGPT, an AI tool adept at analysing and generating text, highlighting its influence in the realm of social sciences. By harnessing data from the Scopus database, a total of 814 relevant publications were selected and scrutinised through VOSviewer, focusing on elements such as co-citations, keywords and international collaborations. The objective is to unearth prevailing trends and knowledge gaps in scholarly discourse regarding ChatGPT’s application in social sciences. Concentrating on articles from the year 2023, this analysis underscores the rapid evolution of this research domain, reflecting the ongoing digital transformation of society. This study presents a broad thematic picture of the analysed works, indicating a diversity of perspectives—from ethical and technological to sociological—regarding the implementation of ChatGPT in the fields of social sciences. This reveals an interest in various aspects of using ChatGPT, which may suggest a certain openness of the educational sector to adopting new technologies in the teaching process. These observations make a contribution to the field of social sciences, suggesting potential directions for future research, policy or practice, especially in less represented areas such as the socio-legal implications of AI, advocating for a multidisciplinary approach.
