A megawatt power millimeter-wave phased-array radar

Abstract: This article describes the design and development of a multi-megawatt radar "Ruza," having a large mechanically steered, millimeter-wave, , phased-array antenna.

“…The principle of locating detection is: Firstly, use array sensor arranged by multiple sensors array elements which have certain space distribution characteristics to receive broadband ultrasonic signals which produced by the partial discharge source in the electrical equipment and which the center frequency is about 150 kHz, effective bandwidth is between 50 kHz and 300 kHz [6][7]; Secondly, process the acquisition of the broadband array signal with Rotation Signal Subspace algorithm [8][9][10] to maximum keep the original signal's broadband airspace information, to accomplish the accumulation of broadband signal's locating information, so as to change the broadband signals to the narrow-bandwidth signals by focusing; Thirdly, the narrowbandwidth signals, azimuth and elevation to the position of array sensors can be acquired through DOA estimation and MUSIC algorithm [11][12][13][14][15]. Finally, turn the azimuth and elevation of partial discharge source into bearing lines of the measuring platform.…”
