A MCDM-based framework for the selection of renewable energy system simulation tool for teaching and learning at university level

Abstract: The calls for actions to combat climate change have resulted in renewable energy adoption and, consequently, an emerging renewable energy industry. Of course, this has also precipitated the need for more renewable energy expert grounded in hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) software to support the growing industry. Hence, selecting particular software for teaching renewable energy modules for the training of students at a university level is essential. The appraisal and selection of HRES sizing and optimisa… Show more

“…Sylvester et al adopted the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and fuzzy technique for order performance by similarity to the ideal solution (fuzzy TOPSIS) to analyze the influencing factors on the development of renewable energy in Malawi 25 . Ighravwe et al built a framework that combines the fuzzy entropy method and fuzzy-VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) to rank hybrid renewable energy systems (HRES) simulation software 26 . Nguyen et al have already developed a fuzzy MCDM model for suitable turbine suppliers in wind power energy projects 27 .…”

“…However, it only analyzes a single value, whereas human judgments are frequently confusing and cannot be assessed using fixed numbers. The TOPSIS tool is based on the following rule according to Ighravwe et al (2021). The optimal output should be the farthest point from the negative ideal solution point and the shortest line from the positive ideal solution point.…”
