A Mathematical Model of the Plane-Parallel Movement of an Asymmetric Machine-and-Tractor Aggregate

Abstract: Technological peculiarities of cultivation and harvesting of some agricultural crops make it necessary to use asymmetric machine-and-tractor aggregates. However, for the time being there is no sufficiently complete, analytical study of the steady movement of such machine-and-tractor aggregates. This necessitates the development of a theory of stable movement of the aggregates which would allow choosing their optimal kinematic and design parameters. On the basis of the results of mathematical simulation, a syst… Show more

“…The general theoretical foundations of the movement of asymmetric aggregates are reflected in the classic works by Gjacheva L., Vasilenko P., etc. [5][6][7]. The stability of the movement and improvement of the steerability of asymmetric aggregates are affected by their dynamic parameters, the presence of certain devices (for example, spring compensators, etc.…”

“…A roll-bar is designed to stay in the vertical upright position (protection) during all stages of tractor use, but must be lowered during passage under canopy between crop rows in order to avoid interfering with foliage and fruits [16][17][18][19]. In addition, many specialised tractors have a relatively high centre of gravity and a reduced ground clearance that often makes it impossible to perform normal cultivation tasks in particular specialised crops [20][21][22][23].…”

“…In this regard, a theoretical study of the oscillations of front-mounted beet topped machine was carried out using Lagrange II kind equations even if not all acting forces on the dynamic system were considered [14,15]. Conversely, a more accurate mathematical model should analyze also the effect of the design parameters of the above-mentioned machine, on the oscillatory movements along sugar beet roots rows due to soil roughness [16]. Taking in mind the aforesaid, the aim of this work is to assess the design and kinematic parameters of a front-mounted beet topper, corresponding to more stable and suitable movements in the longitudinal-vertical plane and reduction of the indicated oscillations.…”
