A lysine-based 2:1-[α/aza]-pseudopeptide series used as additives in polymeric membranes for CO2 capture: synthesis, structural studies, and application

Abstract: A new 2:1-[α/aza]-pseudopeptide series based charged lysine amino acid was synthesized. Influences of chirality, backbone length, and lysine side chains on the oligomers conformation were investigated in solution using NMR, FTIR and MD calculations.

“…In this context, many efforts have been devoted for developing a moiety constructed from a combination of amino acids with non-natural units for their coordination with numerous metal ions. Pseudopeptides containing modified peptide bonds or modified amino acid building blocks that can bind with transition metal ions have a lot of potential applications as catalysts and sensors. However, synthesizing large macrocyclic pseudopeptides is a very difficult task . Therefore, some of the simplest C 2 -symmetric pseudopeptides were synthesized using valine and phenylalanine amino acids with an aromatic central spacer for complexation with multiple metal ions …”
