A Low-Profile Half-Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide Filtering Antenna With High Frequency Selectivity

Abstract: A low-profile half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) filtering antenna with high frequency selectivity is proposed in this letter. The proposed antenna with a height of 0.014λ 0 (λ 0 is the free-space wavelength) consists of a slot-loaded HMSIW cavity, two parasitic patches, and five shorting pins. An upper-edge radiation null is generated by the interaction between the HMSIW cavity and parasitic patches. A rectangular slot etched on the HMSIW cavity is adopted to generate another null to improve the… Show more

“…Filtering antennas have attracted the attention of many researchers due to their multi-functional integration and compact structure [1,2]. Compared with the microstrip antenna, dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) has the advantages of high degrees of design freedom, high gain, and low loss [3][4][5] which is suitable for a variety of application scenarios.…”

“…The Filtering antennas with narrow band pass response are beneficial in 5G and millimeter wave systems [5]. Substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology has recently acquired critical importance in the design of filtering antennas [6][7][8]. Slotted SIW antennas feature unique properties such as high-directional beam formation as well as low level side lobes and cross-polarization.…”
