A Low-Cost Uav Based Application for Identify and Mapping a Geothermal Feature in Ie Jue Manifestation, Seulawah Volcano, Indonesia

Abstract: Mt. Seulawah Agam could make a good location for a geothermal power plant with an estimated energy of 150 Mwe. In geothermal exploration, thermal and multispectral imagery is required for surface temperature calculation, subsurface temperature modeling, and mapping of geothermal potential in volcanoes. In general, temperature data and vegetation index are obtained through such satellite images as Landsat, MODIS, and Sentinel. However, satellite images cannot be used for a small area due to the low resolution (… Show more

“…Thus, the VLF-EM method can be employed in the highly resistive area and high contact resistance where electrical resistivity surveys have limitations. Referring to the literature, the VLF application has been successfully implemented in several areas, such as Seferihisar geothermal in Western Anatolia [15], Hisar geothermal field in Demirci, western Turkey [13], and study the mud volcano in southern Taiwan [16]. On the other hand, the electrical resistivity method known as direct current (DC) resistivity is also used in this study to determine resistivity contrasts associated with water accumulation.…”

“…Figure 1 shows the topography of SeulawahAgam which is visualized by the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) with a resolution of 30 m/px [17]. Various explorations have been carried out in SeulawahAgam to study a geothermal system, such as those using remote sensing, which can provide an initial picture of the manifestation distribution based on the vegetation and temperature obtained from Operational Land Imager (OLI) and Thermal Infra-Red Scanner (TIRS) sensors [18], [19]. Furthermore, the studies were also carried out in gas and geothermal water surveys [16], [20] and integrated geophysical surveys, i.e., magnetotelluric [21], [22].…”

“…This study explores the use of plants that live in a geothermal area. Some research showed that the secondary metabolite content of plants taken from geothermal areas is higher in species diversity and yields than plants from ordinary areas [23][24][25][26] In Aceh Province, there are several areas that have geothermal potential due to volcanic activity [27][28][29], one of which is Seulawah Agam Mountain in Aceh Besar District [30][31][32]. This mountain has several manifestations in several separate locations, namely the manifestation of Ie Brouk [33,34], Ie Seu-Um [35,36], and Ie Jue [37,38].…”
