A low-cost power transducer for transient currents

Abstract: In this manuscript, a low-cost power transducer, suitable for the implementation of electrical power meter, is presented. The current sensing unit is based on a Rogowski coil, while the voltage transduction is performed with an active voltage divider. An analog multiplier is adopted to generate the instantaneous power waveform. Active power and apparent power are measured with a digital multimeter. Each element of the proposed transducer has been experimentally characterized by means of reference instrumentati… Show more

“…Mechanical power is evaluated by measuring a line current [ 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 ] and current measurements are carried out by using a low-cost transducer instead of a more sophisticated performing transducer [ 7 , 8 , 9 ]. These indirect measurements require a mathematical relationship between the mechanical power and a line current.…”
