A Longitudinal Analysis of Antimicrobial Susceptibility in Clinical Institutions in Germany as Part of the Tigecycline Evaluation and Surveillance Trial (2004–2007)

Abstract: Background: The Tigecycline Evaluation and Surveillance Trial (T.E.S.T.) global surveillance program has been designed to assess the in vitro activity of the broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent tigecycline plus several comparative agents. Methods: In vitro activities of bacterial isolates obtained from 13 centers in Germany between 2004 and 2007 were evaluated longitudinally and pooled, using the interpretive criteria of the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST). Results: Tigecycli… Show more

“…A regional difference in A. baumannii resistance to carbapenems has been reported with resistance rates ranging from 3 to 59% [24,25,26]. The surveillance data presented in this study showed that 75.3% of A. baumannii clinical isolates were resistant to MEM.…”

“…Acinetobacter spp. has become an increasing problem in health-care-associated infections over the past few years (Bernards et al 2004, Fournier & Richert 2006, Maragaskis et al 2008, Seifert & Dowzicky 2009). The Nation Nosocomial Infection Study (NNIS) reported a 6.9% increase in Acinetobacter spp.…”
